Obcession

We all live in a result oriented world. A world where it doesn't matter how you make your money as long as you make the money. It doesn't matter how you do something as long as the job is done. I find this rather strange, I have often wondered, if it was just me or if somebody else saw it similarly or not. Yes it does matter, how you do something, how you make your money, how you work, how you live, sometimes its not just the end results which matter, but the ways and means we use to get there. I have heard people say in sport that they will do anything to win. But does doing anything to win mean that you will transgress rules, freely doing anything to get what you want. Doesn't that make an otherwise important achievement, something which one could be proud of, quite hollow. What is a 'winning mentality'? In my opinion, its the ability to persevere, in the face of odds, not to escape odds, not to somehow always choose easy ways, but to face upto a tough situation and get tougher when in the face of an adversity. Its also to accept that occassionally things will not work the way you expect them to, but if it matters, you just got to keep trying. My experience has always been that you get learn by trying and by falling and picking yourself up. Those who are afraid of falling are invariably afraid of trying and they conjure up weird, irrational reasons for it. A great winner in life in my opinion is a person who can be graceful and philosophical even when he/she looses (it doesn't mean you enjoy loosing, it just means you don't necessarily show your worst behavior, the moment things don't work out your way) even when things don't work out and who has a strong mind and strong work ethic. Sometimes, you learn something more profound, in the process of doing something, than in achieving an end result.

rightly said, in this result oriented world most people depend on others to see their success. Hence to achieve this success the set rules become hazy. And yes failure is more important than success.Since a lesson learn through failure should not be forgotten
